It was July 13, 2016. I remember taking the picture, standing in the steaming heat of the Home Depot parking lot. Since I didn't have on my reading glasses at the time, it was just a matter of point, shoot, hope for the best. Consequently it was a pleasant surprise (when I put on my glasses) to discover this beautiful creature, clearly etched against the lime green of my little car.
Here's what I wrote.
Life is whew! right now so I am immersed in home repair. Yesterday I was attempting to fit 12' of molding into my 8' of car and saw I had a passenger. The part of me that picks up pennies wondered what a dragonfly in my path might mean. Soooo... from the wisdom of the Internet.
"The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life."
Nice. Thanks, sensei dragonfly.
An update. The house repair is ongoing and I'm still immersed. Perhaps the next time this entry rolls around the decorative painting in the kitchen will finally be finished and my little garden will show the grace of another year’s sun and rain. As for greater maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life -- not yet either. Always, always a work in progress.
